The theatre student will learn about stage directions, miming, monologues and duets. Students will participate in class activities designed to improve fluidity of body movement, diction, memorization and facial control. Using improvisation, the student will learn how to portray different characters in a scene. All of these skills will culminate in the Theatre Program’s Spring musical.
Dedicated to fostering creativity, students are exposed to the Studio Art Program from Pre-K through 12th grade. Students are introduced to fundamental skills when they begin at SMA. As they explore different mediums and techniques, students will strengthen their skills and develop their own style. Students will work in drawing, painting, printmaking, mixed media, and sculpture. Additionally, students can challenge themselves with hands-on experience in Ceramics.
Our Pre-K students are introduced to music by learning about rhythm and movement with an emphasis on vocals. As students move through Lower School, they build on these foundations by adding hands-on training with performances. Once students reach Middle School students may participate in Concert Band. Using the experience they have gained, Upper School students lead their peers in percussion and orchestra ensembles. Each student has the opportunity to invest in their musical talents.
