Student Activities Positions


Life Guard/Recreation Assistant (Male and Female)

San Marcos Academy is currently seeking applicants for Recreation Assistants to work with young people in a Christian boarding school. These are excellent positions for those seeking to work in a Christian environment that will allow for professional and spiritual growth.

Job Responsibilities include:
  • Monitoring and supervising student behavior on and off campus daily
  • Monitoring and supervising students during school sponsored events
  • Supporting middle-school and high school students in developing good behavior
  • Serving as a positive role model by exhibiting high personal standards through appropriate behavior and attitude
  • Assisting in transporting students to various destinations
  • Assisting with answering the phone and receiving messages/transferring phone calls
  • Patrolling the grounds and monitoring the movement of students that have signed out of their various dorms to ensure a safe and secure environment on campus
  • Maintaining the pool
Qualifications:
Be available to work an average of 15-22 hours a week on these specific days and hours:

Weekly:
Mon. 3:30 p.m.-9:45 p.m.
Tues. 3:30-9:45 p.m.
Wed. 3:30-9:45 p.m.
Thurs. 3:30-9:45 p.m.
Friday 3:30 p.m.-11:00 p.m.
Some Weekends

Some college hours (preferred)
Hold a valid driver's license
CDL and life guarding certification

Start Date: Around August 1, 2017

Compensation: $8.00/hour Shifts may include an on-campus meal.

Residence Halls Positions


Assistant Hall Director

San Marcos Academy, a private Christian school servicing middle and high school students, is currently accepting applications for an Assitant Hall Director for the boy’s dorm. This full time position to be filled immediately. Shifts are scheduled between 3:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. weekdays and on weekends 7:00 a.m. until midnight. Applicants will be required to work alternating weekends. Housing and meals are provided, and benefits are offered.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Serve as a role model in behavior and appearance, and social skills
  • Interact with students who are ages 11-18
  • Provide support for dormitory supervisors
  • Monitor students
  • Assist in the day to day operations of the facility
  • Transport students off campus as needed
  • Be available to work a flexible schedule of 120 hours per month
Required Qualifications:
  • A Christian testimony
  • High School diploma (Some college preferred)
  • Experience working with youth (Preferred)
  • Ability to supervise a diverse group of young people
  • High standard of behavior and moral conduct

Resident Assistant-Male

San Marcos Academy, a private Christian school serving middle and high school students, is located in the beautiful Texas Hill country just outside of San Marcos. A position is currently available for a part time, make resident assistant who will start work in early August. The position runs through the end of May, and the applicant has the opportunity to continue in this position next fall. Shifts are scheduled between 3:00 p.m. and midnight, 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., and weekend shifts may be any hours between 8:00 a.m. and midnight. Applicants may be required to work most weekends when school is in session.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Have a Christian testimony
  • High School diploma (Some college preferred)
  • Serve as a role model in behavior and appearance
  • Interact with students who are ages 11-18
  • Provide support for dormitory supervisors
  • Assist in the day-to-day operations of the facility
Job Benefits:
  • Classes are not held the week of Thanksgiving or during Christmas and spring break.
  • Shifts are not scheduled during the summer months.
  • Position may be extended for the fall after the summer months when applicant could seek another job

Male Night Proctor

San Marcos Academy invites applications for a Night Proctor for the boys' dorm. This is an excellent position for men seeking to work in a Christian environment that will allow for professional and spiritual growth. The position involves working with 7th-12th grade boys through the night-time hours. The number of nights per week may vary. The shift is from 11:00 p.m. until 7:00 a.m.

Responsibilities include:
  • Serve as a role model in actions, language, and dress
  • Monitoring students
  • Responding to any need that arises
  • Some clerical work
  • Making sure that students get up when scheduled
  • Reporting any incident in a log and to others
Required Qualifications:
  • Have a Christian testimony
  • Ability to remain awake throughout night time hours
  • Experience working with youth
  • Ability to supervise a diverse group of young people
  • High standard of behavior and moral conduct

Tutors and Substitute Positions


Evening Tutoring Position—Math, English

San Marcos Academy is now accepting applications for Tutoring Positions from individuals seeking employment in a Christian environment at a college-prep high school. Applicants must be available to work Monday through Thursday from 7:15 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. This is a part time position that will begin immediately.

Primary Responsibility:
  • Assist students in reaching the “application level” course concepts
  • Assist students in completing assignments and projects
  • Assist students in test preparation
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 12 college credits in: Spanish, Math, or English
  • GPA of at least a 3.0
Specific Benefits:
  • Position may extend into a multi-year employment opportunity
  • Hourly employees will not be required to work during SMA holiday breaks (the week of Thanksgiving, Christmas break, spring break)
Compensation:  $15.00 per hour

Start Date: Immediate
