San Marcos Academy – Residential Life

More than half of the students at San Marcos Academy live on campus in our residence halls. These students are a diverse group, representing a variety of nationalities, several different U.S. states, and about 40 different cities across Texas. Female boarding students in grades 6-12 live in Elizabeth Kokernot (EK) Hall. Male boarding students in grades 6-12 live in the Upper Boys Dormitory, which includes Crook Hall, Byrom Hall and Talbot Hall. The Academy offers two boarding options: the traditional 7-day boarding program or the 5-day boarding program. The 5-day option is designed for families residing within a 70-mile radius of the Academy campus who want their children to spend most weekends at home. Read more about this option in our recent blog article.

San Marcos Academy’s Residential Life Program provides a nurturing, structured environment where students can develop the life skills required for independent living while also learning to become a contributing member of the school community as a whole. The residence hall staff are guided by the philosophy of relational ministry. Residential staff provide adult supervision within the dormitory as well as assistance to students when required.

The residence halls are open every weekend and on most holidays. The exceptions are Thanksgiving week, Christmas/New Year’s break and Spring Break. The dormitory is open to international students over the Easter break.
